AES Instructor Certification

At the Academy of European Swordsmanship we realise that the best martial artist may not be the best teacher, therefore we offer Instructor Certification. This consists of instructional seminars, which are taught by a professionally trained educator with over ten years of instructional experience, who is also a martial artist. This gives us the unique opportunity to follow a consistent curriculum, refine some of the best instructors in the martial arts community and ensure students benefit from high quality instruction.

Instructor certification is only given after taking instructional seminars, teaching the ranked Associate how to present martial arts materials to students of differing levels.

Junior Instructor Certification

  • This teaches Savants and Provosts how to assist and give direction in a positive manner to beginning and intermediate members. Methods on how to observe student practise, give positive criticism and correct students' errors, and enhance student practise are shown. Upon successful completion members are certified to assist in AES workshops. Junior instructors may only teach under the guidance of a certified Senior Instructor.
  • Prerequisite: Savant ranking.

Senior Instructor Certification

  • This teaches Provosts workshop design and lesson plan construction. Further points on how to advertise and promote your organisation are given. Advanced instructional techniques are covered. Upon successful completion, members are certified to instruct AES workshops in given areas of expertise. Required for independent teaching.
  • Prerequisites: Junior Instructor Certification and Provost ranking.
